Timi Dakolo Biography
Timi Dakolo was conceived on January 20, 1981 in Accra, Ghana. His mother is of Ghanaian nationality and his father is of Nigerian nationality. Timi was only 13 years old when his beloved mother passed away. He spent his childhood in Port Harcourt with his grandmother and aunt. He began singing at the tender age of 12. In 2003, Timi joined a band named Purple Love. The group broke up some time later. Timi was the winner of G.E FACTO, a local talent competition.
Career
Timi started his professional career by auditioning for West Idol Africa. It is a reality singing competition where singers compete with each other to win the trophy. When Timi was competing in this show, he got the bad news that his beloved grandmother had died. It was a major blow to Timi but he never gave up. Eventually, Timi emerged as the winner of West Idol Africa in 2007.
In 2009, Timi released his first song. In 2011, he launched his debut album Beautiful Noise which was a success. He went on to release another album in 2019 titled Merry Christmas, Darling. It brought him wealth and fame. In 2008, Timi was shot randomly by a militia member just after winning the West Idol Africa. He survived the gunshot wound and was discharged from the hospital soon.
