Asa aka Bukola Elemide was conceived on September 17, 1982 in France. She was born to Nigerian parents who were vacationing in France. They returned when Asa was two years old. She went to Peter King’s School of Music. In 2000, Asa came back to her birthplace Paris where she gained fame as a singer. Her dad used to collect the music of several artists which led to Asa take an interest in music.

Career

Asa started her incredible career at the age of 20. She was studying music in France and was told that she is ready to become an amazing singer and needed no more training. Her song ”Eyé Adaba” proved very popular in Nigeria. She met Cobhams Asuquo who worked with her on her first album. In 2007, She signed a contract with Naiive Records and released her debut studio album titled Asa which was a groundbreaking success. Her album was certified Platinum and gained popularity in several parts of Europe. She was dubbed the best fresh talent of the year in France.

Asa released her second album Beautiful Imperfection in 2010 which was also a bigger success than her first album. By 2014, she had sold more than 400k albums all over the world. In August 2014, she launched her third album Bed of Stone which was positively received. Asa embarked on an international tour to promote her album. In 2019, she released her fourth album Lucid which brought her massive exposure and wealth. Asa acquired several awards for her amazing albums.
