Adekunle Gold Biography

Adekunle Gold was conceived on January 28, 1987, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is descended from the Kosoko Royal family thus making him a Prince. Even though his parents are Muslims, they allowed him to pursue other religions if he liked. This led him to join a church choir. He developed an interest in music when he was in the choir. Adekunle attended Lagos State Polytechnic to get a diploma in Arts and Design. He is the nephew of famous Nollywood actor Prince Jide Kosoko.

Career

When Adekunle was in the church choir, he wrote his first song. In 2014, he started pursuing a solo career in music after breaking up with a band named The Bridge. He used to photoshop himself with popular celebrities such as Tiwa Savage. These pictures went viral and he gained the moniker of ”King of Photoshop”. In late 2014, he released his single Sade which brought him acclaim and fame.

In 2015, Adekunle Gold signed a contract with Olamide’s label YBNL Nation. He released his song Orente with them. He also designed their logo. In 2016, Adekunle released his debut album titled Gold which was a critical and commercial success. The album reached the #7 spot in Billboard World Album Chart of the week. After his contract expired with YBNL Nation, he formed his own band named ”The 79th Element” which is actually the atomic number of element Gold.

In 2018, he launched his second album About 30 which brought him more exposure. He toured Nigeria and even the continent to promote his album. In 2020, Adekunle released his third album Afro Pop Vol. 1.
